POV Rehabilitative Strength Training
POV rehabilitative strength program is the direction taken when there is substantial neurological inefficiency in muscle firing that will lead to pain and potential injury. All pain & injury is a direct result of the body’s inability to absorb force. With everything we do, our body absorbs and generates force. In order to absorb force appropriately to maintain healthy tissue and avoid injury, muscles must fire in the appropriate order at the appropriate force and velocity.
When an individual sustains pain, it means the body has a neurological inability to absorb that force. The nervous system is not able to communicate to the appropriate muscles fast enough in order to absorb force appropriately. Force does not simply disappear; if there is a neurological disconnect where muscles do not work efficiently, the force is absorbed in the wrong areas. This is the strength issue and will lead to pain or injury. The spot where you feel pain is not where the problem began. The appropriate muscles are turned off and other areas of the body are compensating. This is where we feel pain; it begins with the neurological disconnect; simply, where the muscle did not or could not do what it was supposed to do.
Whether the individual will need neurological therapy or the POV rehabilitative strength program will be determined at the therapy evaluation. Call for your free consultation now: 651-587-3353.
